From Official Guide & Manual of the 250th Anniversary Celebration 1916: The Cedars was the hermit like home of William Henry Herbert (Frank Forester), first important writer in America on sports and outdoor life. the House stood within what is now Mount Pleasant Cemetery, in the woods on the bank of the Passaic, close to the "Gully Road," now Herbert Place. Herbert died in 1858 and is buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery
