Newark Archives Project - The Newark (N.J.) Archives Project is your comprehensive online source of information about primary materials for all periods and all aspects of Newark history, from Colonial times to the 21st Century. Co-sponsored by the Newark History Society and Rutgers University-Newark, the Project cooperates closely with the staffs of the many libraries and archives it surveys. We are creating detailed descriptions of Newark-related material, both catalogued and un-catalogued, located in repositories in Newark, in New Jersey and New York, and ultimately throughout the United States. We survey papers of individuals and families; records of government agencies, organizations, and businesses; photographs and film; audio collections; and more.

Our database of collection descriptions is constantly growing. You can search our detailed descriptions of hundreds of archival collections by keyword, by name, by subject, and by time-period.

Robert Toth - Robert Toth was born in Newark in 1939. He graduated from the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art going on to become a Designer for Congoleum Ind. Kearny NJ. He collaborated with Theodore Edison in 1974 while creating a portrait of his father, Thomas Edison. He also created Men of Music Bronze sculptures for Lincoln Center in NYC.

East Newark LINK BROKEN - In late spring of the year 1895, a group of citizens, from what was then the First Ward of the Town of Kearny, became dissatisfied with the neglect of their interests. For their tax dollars they wanted a larger say in governing their district. They set about to establish a new borough and named it: "The Borough of East Newark." Site maintained by Ken Forbes.
