The Plank Road Bridge is used for public travel and is situated in the southeastern end of the city, on the old Plank Road, between Newark and Jersey City.  It is on the route most frequented by teamsters traveling between the two places, and a toll is exacted for crossing it.  The bridge is a miserable and unsightly affair, although the company receives a large revenue from their tolls.
